GVA, the UK's largest independent commercial property adviser, has recruited two new investment directors to significantly strengthen its existing national UK retail investment team.
Michael Comley and Jonathan Cornwell join from Capital Retail LLP to lead a dedicated team. Both bring a combined 25 years experience in the retail investment sector.
This marks another statement of intent for GVA following it's announcement two weeks ago to create a significant "war chest" to super-charge the business for growth.
The retail recruitment drive will not only allow GVA to compete with other leading national retail investment teams but compliments its existing business space and regional investment teams.
Whilst GVA has strong capabilities in certain retail areas such as planning, regeneration and foodstores, with clients demanding specialist investment and occupational advice these appointments reinforce GVA's position with existing clients and presents access to new ones.
Neil Dovey, Senior Director and Head of GVA's London Investment team comments: We're delighted Michael and Jonathan have agreed to join us. For some time we've been looking to bring in a dedicated retail investment team to compliment our existing regional investment teams and help provide an all round service to our clients. They needed to be the right fit. Theses appointments are a clear indication we have improved the profile of our retail agency capability and a further sign of our desire to grow further."
Prior to Capital Retail, Michael and Jonathan previously worked together at Cushman & Wakefield. They will specialise in high streets, shopping centres and out of town. Their existing clients include Rockspring, DTZ Investment Management, Royal London, UBS, Pramerica, PRUPIM, F&C Reit and CBRE Global Investors.
The appointments follow a move earlier in the year when GVA appointed five new staff members to strengthen and expand its national retail agency division.
Jason Sibthorpe, Senior Director and Head of GVA's National Retail Agency Division, comments: "We're in a healthy position. The retail market at present is generally defined by contraction and consolidation. Contrary to these wider market trends our own analysis, based on existing and forthcoming client demand, indicates a sustained period of activity. This will require increased specialist expertise and these latest appointments will complement our agency offer for our clients and further boost our ongoing recruitment drive."
