The next general revaluation of all non-domestic property in Scotland like England & Wales takes effect on 1st April 2017, the system in Scotland however is significantly different, especially the appeal process. The 14 Local Assessor’s in Scotland will revalue approximately 225,000 properties. It is hoped their Draft Rateable Values will be published by the Scottish Government in December along with the 2017/18 rate poundage plus any supplements applicable to larger properties (currently those with Rateable Value above £35k). New Rateable Values will be issued to Ratepayers in March 2017 with a statutory deadline that all Revaluation Appeals must be lodged by 30 September 2017. Failure to do so will result in the opportunity to appeal being lost and the Assessors proposed RV remaining for the next 5 years.
