Compulsory purchase

Our dedicated compulsory purchase team of specialist surveyors and planners provides unparalleled, UK wide expert advice on compulsory purchase strategy and procedure, from the outset of the process through to confirmation of a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) or a Development Consent Order (DCO).

We are able to advise in respect of the Order enabling powers, planning process, property acquisition estimates and strategy, supporting the case for CPO powers at Public Inquiry, and delivering site assembly expeditiously and at appropriate cost. We act for both acquiring authorities, such as councils, transport authorities, utility companies and developers in promoting CPOs, and affected landowners and occupiers, guiding them through the complex procedures and compensation assessment and entitlement, in order to maximise monetary settlements and minimise disruption to businesses. We are also able to assist affected landowners in preparing appropriate grounds to challenge and object to a Compulsory Purchase Order at Inquiry.

CPO specialist advice

We understand that site assembly, including the use of compulsory purchase to achieve this, is a vital part of delivering any development or infrastructure project. We work closely with our clients to ensure the CPO land assembly process is integrated with planning, construction and other work streams, balancing cost and risk throughout the overall programme to ensure the assembled site is available on time and within budget.
