GVA is supporting Dementia Awareness Week, which runs from Monday 15th May to Friday 19th May.
GVA’s charity partner for 2016 – 2017 is Alzheimer’s Society and as such, the real estate adviser will be supporting the charity’s awareness week with a campaign running across all of its 12 offices around the UK.
Activities organized for the London HQ include a ping pong tournament, memory games and a lunch and learn session about creating accessible environments, whilst the Manchester office is hosting a foosball tournament and Bristol is running a photo competition. On Friday 19th May, all employees across the company are being invited to dress down in blue for a £2 donation, with a prize for the ‘bluest’ person in each office.
To raise awareness of dementia in the company’s day to day work, GVA will also be sharing facts throughout the week on how the property sector can implement dementia friendly design into buildings and outdoor spaces.
Chris Whetstone, Corporate Responsibility Manager at GVA comments: “We are delighted to be supporting Dementia Awareness Week 2017 and continuing to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Society. Every three minutes, somebody in the UK develops dementia, a devastating brain disease which robs people of their independence. It is crucial that we ensure that those living with dementia today receive the vital support they need to have the best possible quality of life and that the property industry works to make our buildings and communities more dementia friendly.”
