One of Scotland’s foremost property advisers, Bilfinger GVA, has let a fully refurbished townhouse in Edinburgh’s west end to Robinson Medical Recruitment (RMR).

The move to 7 Walker Street will give the specialist recruitment agency much needed additional space due to sustained growth over the past few years.

Anne Robinson, Managing Director of the RMR, says their new 3,129 sq ft offices, owned by Ashkirk Properties, will allow the business to continue to expand. “We have always been based in the west end of Edinburgh and wanted a space in the same vicinity as the area is well-served by public transport. We came across the property in Walker Street in October and I could see how the building would work for us, even though it was in need of refurbishment and modernisation. The landlords had it fully refurbished to a very high standard which gives us the opportunity to ‘showcase’ our business. Now that the townhouse is fully renovated it will serve as an excellent space for our staff to work in and our clients to visit.”

Bilfinger GVA and Trident Building Surveyors advised Ashkirk Properties on the refurbishment programme, and Peter Fraser, Associate Director at Bilfinger GVA, says the recent let to RMR is indicative of the current high level of city centre take-up.

“The building was vacated in November last year. The landlord, Trident and ourselves worked up an appropriate specification and refurbishment scheme to meet current occupier demands.

We engaged with RMR early in the marketing and were able to agree terms and conclude the lease in time for RMR to receive the keys on the day the refurbishment works completed.

This is indicative of the market where there is a lack of good quality offices, particularly townhouse space which is at a premium. It’s also a prime example of how a well-pitched refurbishment and marketing programme can succeed with good teamwork.”
