Employees from across Bilfinger GVA’s national network of offices will be looking to the future on Thursday 13th October to support LandAid Day 2016.

A host of activities are planned at Bilfinger GVA offices around the country to tie into this year’s theme of ‘The Future’, set by property industry charity LandAid, to help it meet its nationwide fundraising target of £150,000.

In line with LandAid’s theme, Bilfinger GVA will be challenging its employees to rack up the top score in a company-wide game of arcade classic Space Invaders via the intranet, with offices in London and the regions hosting their own activities.

Staff at the Gresham Street headquarters in the City of London will be channelling their inner Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood in a future-themed charity bake sale and holding a team-based virtual reality gaming event, while their West End office colleagues will be organising a dress-down day and lunchtime pub quiz.

In the Midlands, staff in the Birmingham office will be hosting their own quiz night on the 13th October to tie-in with LandAid Day, whilst the Manchester and Leeds offices are inviting their teams to ditch the ties and jackets and dress down, as well as to take part in a number of games on offer during the day, including ‘count the spaceships’ in the jar.

Gerry Hughes, Chief Executive at Bilfinger GVA said: “Last year we raised and donated a staggering £9,000, however this year we’re looking to do even better. LandAid is dedicated to changing young lives around the country and LandAid Day is a great opportunity for the property industry to raise funds and awareness for the charity, helping to achieve its goal of ending youth homelessness.

“As an industry, we are fortunate to be in a position to make positive contributions and I am delighted that so many of our offices around the UK are taking part in LandAid Day 2016.”

Bilfinger GVA is aiming to raise £10,000 through this year’s activity, with the business committed to matching the final value raised by staff.

A national charity that focuses on ending youth homelessness, LandAid is committed to tackling the root causes of young people living in dangerous or unsuitable conditions by providing accommodation and training and helping to protect those that are already on the streets.

Each year, the organisation nominates a theme for its national day of fundraising, with property professionals from all disciplines coming together to raise money.
