Recently our colleague in the Liverpool office, Laura Wakefield, received the devastating news that she has a rare form of cancer in her foot, which means she will shortly have to have one of her legs amputated below the shin and wear a prosthetic.
A better quality prosthetic than the NHS can offer will cost her between £6000 and £8000, so her colleagues in the office have already started to find ways to fundraise and support her. Graduate surveyor, Jen Mallon, is leading the way with a sponsored skydive, due to take place in August in the Lake District.
“I am raising money for one of the strongest, bravest, most beautiful and inspiring girls I know”, says Jen. “I have always wanted to do a skydive so this is the perfect reason to do it. I am hoping that what I am doing will help her at this difficult time and enable her to buy the best prosthetic leg around”.
