Bilfinger GVA has significantly strengthened its Planning and Financial Consulting capabilities with two Director level appointments in the London office.
These appointments demonstrate the leading property adviser’s clear intent to grow both capabilities and boost its senior management offer.
Andrew Thomson joins Bilfinger GVA as a Director in the Real Estate Finance team, where he will be responsible for leading the debt/equity broking business and project managing existing deal flow. Thomson joins with 13 years’ experience within the UK commercial real estate finance market, having most recently worked as Head of Commercial Loan Servicing at Pepper Financial Services. He will be reporting to Alastair Carmichael, Head of Real Estate Finance.
James Penfold MRTPI joins Bilfinger GVA as a Director in the Planning team, bringing 11 years’ experience in commercial real estate, following eight years at leading planning practice DP9 and three years at CBRE. Penfold has worked with a range of developers, investors and landowners in central London, including Catalyst Capital and Blackstone. Reporting to Gerry Hughes, Chief Executive and Stephen Brown, Senior Director, his appointment will add weight to a team which has seen ten new client-facing staff appointed since November in London alone.
Gerry Hughes, Chief Executive at Bilfinger GVA, comments: “I’m delighted to welcome both Andrew and James to Bilfinger GVA. The appointments mark our strong intent to expand both teams, with both Directors bringing with them extensive experience to complement and add to our current services. I am particularly pleased to have James join the Planning team, as we are currently right at the centre of the estates renewal and place-making agenda, not just in London but throughout the UK. The specialist and localised advice we can offer at a national and multifaceted level is a capability that is increasingly setting us apart in the market.”
Other recent appointments at Bilfinger GVA include Ben Fruhman, Associate who joined the Real Estate Finance team to work with clients on delivering PRS and residential investment opportunities throughout the investment lifecycle, and James Dair, who has joined the company as Head of Public Sector Finance, a new role within the Birmingham office.
The Real Estate Finance team specialises in providing bespoke financial advice to the private and public sector across all aspects of the property finance environment, from strategic development funding to debt, equity and joint venture structures. PRS also forms a significant part of this team’s remit.
