Coventry University Technology Park

Project Outline

Coventry University Technology Park is an urban regeneration initiative to provide a science park allied to Coventry University on a former area of derelict industrial complexes.

The site, owned by Coventry University, and for part of the project held in a joint venture with Advantage West Midlands; has provided significant opportunities for incubation, innovation and grow on accommodation to meet the needs of the University’s spin out and growth policy.

Coventry University Technology Park comprises approximately 14 acres and is part of a wider comprehensive urban redevelopment including residential and the office focussed Parkside Development.

Following the successful development of the Techno Centre, which comprised a combination of conference and starter office units, GVA were brought on board as letting and disposal agents for the Enterprise Centre (completed December 2000) which provided larger office suites within a 35,000 sq ft building, as well as becoming development consultant on remaining undeveloped plots.

How GVA added value

GVA’s role was extended to advise on bringing forward further speculative development within the scheme through a combination of site disposals and joint venture arrangements.

In addition, we have provided advice on the acquisition of land to provide further phases of development by Coventry University Enterprises. This late phase included the need for public sector funding to assist the creation of a design focussed cluster development.

There is only one development plot remaining and GVA has provided advice in relation to delivery options for an occupier.

Most recently, GVA have advised on the viability of redevelopment on adjoining land for a mix of different uses.

Our role included complete development advice on bringing forward future sites for science park users and knowledge focussed cluster development.
